Washington County NAACP Welcomes Maryland Attorney Gereral Douglas Gansler

The visit and presentation of the Maryland Atty. Gen. was electrifying. The discussions and the concerns expressed resulted in a front page story in the local newspaper. Our next meeting is July 8, 2010. It will be held in the Memorial Recreational Center and will start at 7 PM. It is expected that at this meeting actual data about the racial makeup of the teaching staff of the Washington County public schools will be available and the group, once in possession of the actual data, can then begin to plan their approach to the lack of minority teachers in The Washington County Public School System. It is hoped that a representative of the Washington on the Board of Education will be in attendance. If you have any concerns about the Washington County Public School systems treatment of nonwhite students you are encouraged to attend the meeting. During discussions Roberts Rules of Order will be followed and everyone who wishes to speak will be given a chance to do so.
